Overview

Switch Sound

The Kailh Cocoa has a soft mid toned bottom out and a hard high pitched clacky top out. It has a fairly loud volume both when bottoming out and topping out. The Kailh Cocoa is overall on the higher pitched side, comparable to HMX switches, but thanks to its housing materials it has a fuller sound profile than HMX switches especially on the upstrokes.

There is a slight scratchiness with your ear or mic at keyboard level, but during normal typing sessions and at a normal seated position the scratch is inaudible. Hand lubing the switch will reduce the scratchiness and improve the sound and feel.

Switch Feel

The Kailh Cocoa feels buttery smooth and light to press with a responsive return due to its light but long spring. It provides a comfortable typing experience and helps reduce fatigue during long sessions of typing or gaming. The Kailh Cocoa also has tight housing and stem tolerances which allows it to have very minimal stem wobble, providing a clean and crisp typing experience. The Kailh Cocoa is on the lighter side at a 45g actuation, so it would be a perfect fit for typists who prefer a lighter spring weight or enthusiasts who enjoy a similar spring weight as HMX switches.
